The Monterey County Planning Commission has assented to a solar farm project. Yesterday, the commission agreed to recommend the Board of Supervisors approve the California Flats Solar project. The solar farm, backed by Arizona-based First Solar, will be located on 3,000 acres near Parkfield at the county’s southern edge. The project is aiming to fulfill the state’s renewable energy goals and is expected to offer more than 500 construction jobs as well as funnel $200 million into the state’s economy.
