A Salinas man sustained major injuries when he was struck by a vehicle while walking on Highway 1 Wednesday night. Officials say the 23-year-old victim was walking in a traffic lane south of Bonny Doon Road near Davenport Beach shortly before 8:30. He was then hit by a car being driven by a 64-year-old Santa Cruz woman. The victim was airlifted to a Bay Area trauma center. The driver has not been cited or arrested. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
