A local politician has introduced legislation that would prohibit discrimination against transgendered people in jury selection. Assemblymember Mark Stone proposed AB87 this week, which would also prevent challenges based on ethnic group identification, genetic information and disability. Currently, both the prosecution and the defense are allowed to remove prospective jurors that fall into these categories without providing a reason for removal.
