A Watsonville man has been arrested in connection with a burglary in Santa Cruz last week. Officials say the incident occurred at a business on the 1100 block of Soquel Avenue shortly after 2:30 a.m. Surveillance footage shows the burglar smashing through the store’s glass door then stealing an undisclosed amount of cash. Investigators found a discarded cellphone and blood at the scene. Shortly after, officers spotted a man matching the burglar’s description. 46-year-old James Lewis Wesley had fresh cuts on his hands and chin and admitted he was the owner of the discarded cellphone. He was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail for felony vandalism, commercial burglary, and probation violation.
