Authorities are investigating a fatal accident on Highway 101 in south Monterey County. The CHP responded to a report of a vehicle down an embankment near Teague Avenue shortly after 7 a.m. yesterday morning. Upon investigation of the crash, officers found a deceased male in the drivers seat. The wreck is estimated to happened at about 5 a.m., when it is believed the victim fell asleep at the wheel. The official cause of the accident has yet to be released and the victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of family.
