The Monterey County SPCA has adopted nine of the 38 neglected horses that were rescued from Morgan Hill in November. They were rehabilitated as soon as they reached the facility, and seven of those horses are now healthy and readily available for adoption. 51-year-old Humberto Rivas Uribe of Morgan Hill pleaded no contest to charges of felony animal cruelty in a South County courtroom Tuesday. He remains in jail with his bail set at $250,000. Further, he is forbidden to own or process animals for a period of ten years, must spend 90 days in jail, and is required to serve five years of probation.
