CHP Wet Weather Driving Tips- 12/10/14 18:00 P.S.

The California Highway Patrol has offered the following driving safety tips for the incoming wet weather. First and foremost, slow down and increase the distance between vehicles, especially in windy conditions. Prepare for potential inclement weather by leaving early and make sure that gas tanks are full. Check to see that windshield wipers are in good condition and make sure that headlights are on anytime windshield wipers are working continuously. Apply brakes more slowly to allow tires more traction and stay alert for hydroplaning. Use low beam headlights during foggy conditions and keep a look out for CHP pace vehicles which may be guiding traffic through foggy areas. The California Highway Patrol encourages motorists to check road conditions often by calling the Caltrans road conditions hotline at 1-800-427-ROAD.
