A Watsonville man was arrested at the Santa Cruz County building for FELONY arson and burglary on Saturday. The incident began about 7 p.m. when firefighters received a report of a 5th floor office fire. Fire crews arrived on the 700 block of Ocean Street and observed flames in a 5th floor window. Deputies accompanied firefighters to the location and found a man barricaded in an office. Officers forced the door open and arrested 44-year-old Michael Shawn Michel. The fire, confined to a metal bin, had already been extinguished. The incident remains under investigation, meanwhile Michel remains in Santa Cruz County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.
