A former Greenfield resident has been convicted of first-degree murder. Fidel Rios-Soto allegedly shot and killed his roommate Hilario Avila in 1997. He then fled to Mexico. Rios-Soto was arrested in 2013 after being apprehended for a traffic offense in Glenn County. He is due back in court for sentencing in January. Rios-Soto faces 35 years to life in prison.
