Pacific Grove police are reevaluating communication protocol following a manhunt last week. 29-year-old Jason Rutt was arrested Thursday after allegedly breaking into several homes. As officers searched for Rutt, nearby schools were misinformed about the progress of the manhunt. Teachers and parents received texts and emails stating the suspect had been captured when he was still at large. Officials say they sent out the notifications when they detained a man they mistook for Rutt. Rutt is scheduled to be arraigned this week.
