Two Monterey County inmates accused of beating a jail deputy have been ordered to stand trial. Alberto Cortez and Francisco Miranda were two of six men who were allegedly involved in the attack in June. During a preliminary hearing Friday, testimonies suggested the beating was gang-motivated. The court ruled there was enough evidence to go to trial. Cortez and Miranda will appear in court next month for further arraignment.
