The Monterey County Sheriff’s Department has unveiled a memorial site honoring fallen deputies. The public attended a ceremony at the new memorial last night. The department has dedicated the site to eight peace officers who were killed in the line of duty dating back to 1855. The memorial is located in front of the sheriff’s department and took a year to build. A dedication ceremony will be held at the site today at 11 a.m.
