A Salinas woman was convicted of felony elder abuse and was sentenced to a year in jail and a suspended 5 year prison term yesterday. 42-year-old Daisy Ramirez was also convicted on charges of falsely filing income tax returns and obtaining unemployment assistance using false representations. Officers determined that Ramirez was responsible for elder abuse after they were called to help the elderly victim on several occasions. She will be required to pay fines to the State Employment Development Department and restitution to the State Franchise Tax Board and the victim.
