State researchers have released a report on the impact of the Clean Water Act on the Monterey Bay. Environmental organizations and local elected officials held a press conference in Santa Cruz today to present the study conducted by Environment California Research and Policy Center. The findings show the Clean Water Act has had a positive impact on Monterey Bay’s waterways. However, a loophole in the law has left state headwaters, streams, and wetlands unprotected. Those participating in the conference today are calling for these broader protections.
