THE FAMILIES OF TWO WOMEN WHO WERE KILLED IN FRONT OF NATIVIDAD MEDICAL CENTER LAST YEAR HAVE FILED A WRONGFUL DEATH LAWSUIT. 57-YEAR-OLD CYNTHIA LANE AND HOSPITAL EMPLOYEE 24-YEAR-OLD LINDA WILLIAMS WERE HIT AND KILLED BY A CAR DRIVEN BY FRANCISCO MIRANDA IN FRONT OF THE FACILITY. WILLIAMS WAS TRYING TO HELP LANE, WHO HAD COLLAPSED IN THE STREET SHORTLY AFTER BEING RELEASED FROM THE HOSPITAL. THE LAWSUIT ALLEGES THAT BOTH WOMEN WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN KILLED IF THE HOSPITAL PROPERLY DISCHARGED LANE. THE SUIT HAS BEEN FILED AGAINST SALINAS, MONTEREY COUNTY, THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, AND THE HOSPITAL. ALL DEFENDANTS HAVE UNTIL OCTOBER 19TH TO RESPOND TO THE COMPLAINT.
