K-S-C-O IS VERY SAD TO REPORT THE PASSING OF OUR FRIEND AND TALK-SHOW HOST BOB BISHOP, WHO WAS ALSO KNOWN AS “MISTER LOGIC”, WHO HOSTED THE INTERACTIVE SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, AND BRAIN TEASER-BASED RADIO PROGRAM “THE THINKING MACHINE” SINCE 1992. BOB BISHOP WAS BORN IN MILWAUKEE, EARNING A B-S FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN BEFORE MOVING TO CALIFORNIA AND RECEIVING HIS M-S DEGREE IN PHYSICS FROM U-C-L-A. BISHOP WAS A HIGHLY RESPECTED PHYSICIST FROM THE RENOWNED JET PROPULSION LABORATORY IN PASADENA, AND ONE OF THE ORIGINAL EMPLOYEES OF APPLE COMPUTER. WHERE HE DEVELOPED THE FIRST 4 APPLE II GRAPHICS GAMES (ROCKET PILOT, STAR WARS, SAUCER INVASION, AND SPACE MAZE). HE WAS ALSO THE FIRST PERSON TO ENABLE THE APPLE II TO BOTH RECOGNIZE AND GENERATE HUMAN SPEECH. UPON LEARNING OF THE DEATH OF BISHOP, HIS FRIEND AND COLLEAGUE, APPLE CO-FOUNDER STEVE WOSNIAK, HAD THESE WORDS TO SAY (VIA E-MAIL FROM KUALA LAMPUR)….
“That indeed is VERY sad for me. It really makes you realize that all the good people you have known will pass someday. Bob was an important person in my life during the early Apple days, the later Apple days, and afterwards. I try to live by the concepts in his book “Shades of Reality”.
