THE TRIAL HAS ONCE AGAIN BEEN DELAYED FOR THE MAN ACCUSED OF THE 2012 MURDER OF A DOWNTOWN SANTA CRUZ SHOP OWNER. CHARLES ANTHONY EDWARDS IS ACCUSED OF STABBING SHANNON COLLINS TO DEATH ON BROADWAY STREET AS SHE WALKED BACK TO HER STORE ON PACIFIC AVENUE. THIS LATEST DELAY IS BECAUSE THE COURT-FUNDED PSYCHIATRIST (WHO IS SUPPOSED TO BEING EVALUATING EDWARDS MEDICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL RECORDS) HAS SAID HE CANNOT COMPLETE THE EVALUATION BECAUSE HE IS RETIRING. EDWARDS IS DUE BACK IN A SANTA CRUZ COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT ROOM TOMORROW, TO SET A NEW TRIAL DATE.
