CALIFORNIA WATER OFFICIALS HAVE REPORTED A DROP IN WATER USE OVER THE SUMMER. A SURVEY RELEASED YESTERDAY (TUES) INDICATES A 7.5% DECREASE IN WATER CONSUMPTION IN JULY, DROPPING FROM AROUND 4% IN JUNE. THE FIGURES FOLLOW THE IMPLEMENTATION OF WATER RESTRICTIONS AND FINES OF UP TO $500 FOR WASTING THE RESOURCE. STATE WATER DISTRICTS ARE STILL FALLING SHORT OF THE 20% GOAL SET BY GOVERNOR JERRY BROWN. A SURVEY FOR AUGUST WILL BE RELEASED LATER THIS MONTH.
