CALIFORNIA LAWMAKERS ARE MOVING FORWARD WITH TWO BILLS ADDRESSING FIREARM SAFETY AND AMMUNITION SALES. THE SENATE PASSED SB505 FRIDAY WHICH WOULD REQUIRE OFFICERS TO SEARCH THE STATE’S DATABASE OF GUN PURCHASES WHEN CHECKING ON AT-RISK INDIVIDUALS. THE SENATE ALSO PASSED SB53, REQUIRING AMMUNITION VENDORS TO BE LICENSED AND INDIVIDUALS BUYING AMMUNITION TO PASS BACKGROUND CHECKS. BOTH BILLS WILL BE VOTED ON BY THE FULL ASSEMBLY THIS WEEK.
