A COAST GUARD COMMANDER HAS CALLED OFF THE SEARCH FOR A SANTA CRUZ MAN. AT APPROXIMATELY 3:30 A-M YESTERDAY (MONDAY), TIMOTHY LYBRAND REPORTEDLY MADE A DISTRESS CALL FROM HIS FISHING BOAT, PALOMA, WHEN IT CAPSIZED OFF OF OCEAN BEACH (NEAR THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE) IN SAN FRANCISCO. HE HAD INDICATED HE WAS WEARING A LIFE JACKET AND WOULD SWIM THE 25 YARDS TO SHORE. AFTER AN 8-HOUR SEARCH BY THE COAST GUARD, NATIONAL PARK SERVICE, AND SAN FRANCISCO FIRE, LYBRAND HAD NOT BEEN FOUND. TIMOTHY LYBRAND REPORTEDLY GRADUATED FROM SANTA CRUZ HIGH SCHOOL IN 1958 AND THE PALOMA HAD BEEN DOCKED IN THE SANTA CRUZ HARBOR.
