A SALINAS MAN ACCUSED OF TRIPLE HOMICIDE WILL GO TO TRIAL AND MAY FACE THE DEATH PENALTY. 22-YEAR-OLD GIOVANNI PACHECO WAS ARRESTED LAST YEAR FOLLOWING A MASS SHOOTING OUTSIDE TACO’S CHOICE ON WILLIAMS ROAD, KILLING THREE AND INJURING FOUR. PACHECO’S ATTORNEY HAS STATED HE IS MENTALLY DISABLED, WITH AN I-Q OF 59. EXECUTING A MENTALLY DISABLED PERSON WAS RULED UNCONSTITUTIONAL BY THE SUPREME COURT IN 2002. PACHECO IS SCHEDULED TO BE ARRAIGNED NEXT WEEK.
