A STANDOFF WITH A SUICIDAL MAN IN SALINAS ENDED PEACEFULLY THIS MORNING (TUES). THE 23-YEAR-OLD MAN WAS FOUND IN A CEMETERY ON THE 21-HUNDRED BLOCK OF NORTH MAIN STREET AROUND 8 A-M, AFTER HIS GIRLFRIEND REPORTED HE WAS AT-RISK. A CRISIS TEAM TALKED WITH THE SUBJECT, WHO HELD A KNIFE TO HIS THROAT AND ASKED POLICE TO SHOOT HIM. AFTER A 90-MINUTE STANDOFF, THE MAN SURRENDERED AND WAS TAKEN TO A HOSPITAL FOR EVALUATION.
