THE SANTA CRUZ COUNTY BUILDING WAS THE SIGHT OF THE 5TH ANNUAL BENEFIT SCRABBLE TOURNAMENT OVER THE WEEKEND. 18 CONTESANTS COMPETED IN THE FUND RAISER HELD IN THE COUNTY PUBLIC LAW LIBRARY ON SATURDAY. THE LAW LIBRARY IS NOT PART OF STATE OR COUNTY BUDGETS AND IS FUNDED THROUGH CIVIL COURT FILING FEES AND BENEFITS SUCH AS THIS ONE, WHICH SPLIT THE EVENT PROCEEDS WITH TEEN PEER COURT. WINNERS WERE PICKED ON WORD DIFFICULTY WITH EXTRA POINTS WERE GIVEN TO COMPETITORS THAT USED LEGAL TERMS AS A CRIMINAL DEFENSE ATTORNEY AND 2 SUPERIOR COURT JUDGES OVERSAW THE MATCHES.
