THE CITY OF SANTA CRUZ HAS BEEN GIVEN PERMISSION TO RELEASE LESS WATER FROM LOCH LOMOND RESERVOIR. THE STATE WATER BOARD APPROVED THE REQUEST 2 WEEKS AGO, WHICH WILL RETAIN 100 MILLION GALLONS OF WATER IN THE CITY’S LARGEST WATER STORAGE FACILITY TO COMBAT THE DROUGHT. TOMORROW THE CITY COUNCIL IS DECLARING A WATER SHORTAGE EMERGENCY TO REDUCE OVERALL USE BY 3 MILLION GALLONS PER DAY.
