A WELL KNOWN SALINAS MAN, WHO WAS A WORLD WAR II BOMBER PILOT, EXPERT MARKSMAN, LONG-TIME ROTARIAN, MORTUARY OWNER, AND CHARTER MEMBER OF CORRAL DE TIERRA COUNTRY CLUB, HAS PASSED AWAY. JOHN STRUVE PASSED AWAY MONDAY EVENING AT THE AGE OF 90. HE WAS PREDECEASED BY HIS WIFE GLROIA IN 2005, AND HE IS SURVIVED BY 2 SONS AND A DAUGHTER (AS WELL AS THEIR SPOUSES).
THE STRUVE AND LAPORTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, ON THE 1ST BLOCK OF WEST SAN LUIS STREET, WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1927, AND IT’S THE OLDEST FAMILY-OWNED MORTUARY IN MONTEREY COUNTY.
