A SALINAS MAN WAS ARRESTED SATURDAY NIGHT AFTER A HIGH-SPEED CAR CHASE. MONTEREY COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES TRIED TO PULL OVER A SUSPECTED DRUNK DRIVER AT 8:50 P-M NEAR PAJARO. THE SUSPECT SPED OFF AND A PURSUIT ENSUED. THE CHASE WENT ON FOR 14 MILES, REACHING SPEEDS OF 100 MILES AN HOUR, THROUGH WATSONVILLE AND THEN TOWARDS MOSS LANDING BEFORE THE DRIVER WAS SUBDUED ON ELKHORN ROAD. A SEARCH OF THE VEHICLE TURNED UP 32 BAGGIES OF METH AND OVER A THOUSAND DOLLARS IN CASH. 45 YEAR OLD STEVE ANTHONY RIVERS WAS ARRESTED FOR EVADING ARREST, DUI, 2 OUTSTANDING FELONY WARRANTS, AND POSSESSION AND TRANSPORTATION OF METH WITH INTENT OF SALES.
