Hollister is expected to follow in the steps of another Central Coast city and consider a plan to install security cameras in it’s downtown area. A proposal submitted by the city’s police department, calls for 40 cameras to be installed on city buildings and light poles. The surveillance system would cost taxpayers about $300,000. Council members met last night and expressed support for the idea, and plan to vote on it in upcoming months. The proposal comes after Seaside approved plans this month to install 22 cameras in the city.
