Beach goers in Santa Cruz County are being warned of big waves and possibly strong rip currents this week. The National Weather Service issued a high surf advisory for tomorrow morning through Friday night. Big-wave spots like Mavericks, meanwhile, are expected to have surf in the 20-foot range. Santa Cruz is expected to see waves anywhere from 4-to-6-feet tomorrow to 12-to-15-feet on Friday. The Weather Service also recommends avoiding fishing and climbing on rocks during this time.
