A southbound lane on Highway-17 was shut down for several hours this morning after a small brush fire broke out near the Fishhook in Santa Cruz. The fire was reported at 10:30 by people who say they saw thick, black smoke coming from an area where Southbound Highway-17 meets with Southbound Highway-1. Crews extinguished the blaze immediately. No injuries were reported.
