A LOCAL STATE ASSEMBLYMAN HAS INTRODUCED A BILL THAT WOULD BAN THE SALE OF FILTERED CIGARETTES IN CALIFORNIA. MARK STONE’S BILL, AB-1504, IS DESIGNED TO REDUCE THE NON-BIODEGRADABLE WASTE LITTERED ON CALIFORNIA’S BEACHES (AND IN THE STATE’S WATERWAYS). IF ENACTED, PEOPLE WOULD ONLY BE ABLE TO PURCHASE UNFILTERED CIGARETTES IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA. THE BILL WOULD INCLUDE A 500 DOLLAR FINE FOR THE SALE, DISTRIBUTION, AND GIFTING OF FILTERED CIGARETTES.
