Three weeks later and the Pfeiffer Fire in Big Sur continues to smolder, while the cause has yet to be identified. Teams have been assessing the area days after it broke out on December 16TH, looking for clues into what caused the blaze to break out near Highway 1. Officials say they spent over 4-million dollars fighting the fire, which charred 917-acres and destroyed 34 residences and four outbuildings. Firefighters had the blaze contained as of December 20th, and about a hundred residents were able to return to their homes starting on December 21st.
