MONTEREY COUNTY IS CONSIDERING WAIVING SOME PERMIT FEES IN ORDER TO SPEED UP RECONSTRUCTION OF THE FIRE DAMAGED AREAS OF BIG SUR. THIS PROPOSAL, FROM THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, WOULD SUSPEND CHARGES FOR THREE YEARS. THE IDEA OF THE RESOLUTION CAME ABOUT ON THE THIRD DAY OF THE WILD FIRE. THE PROPOSAL CONSIDERATION WILL BE DISCUSSED AT THE JANUARY 7TH MEETING. PERMITS NEEDED FOR HAZARDOUS TREE REMOVAL; SEPTIC AND WELL; ADDRESS NUMBERING, AS WELL AS, BUILDING, GRADING AND ENCROACHMENT, WOULD BE WAIVED BY THE COUNTY’S PROPOSAL.
