U.S. Forest Officials say Big Sur residents will be back in their homes in time for Christmas. The decision to let roughly 100 residents return to their homes was made yesterday after PG&E was able to get power restored to the area. Meanwhile, the cause of the Pfeiffer Fire remains undetermined. The fire destroyed 34 homes, four other buildings, burned 917 acres and displaced about 100 residents. 100 fire crews are still on the scene monitoring hot spots. Highway 1 through Big Sur remains open and Andrew Molera State Park remains closed. The fire was 100% contained Monday night. It started at around midnight on December 16th.
