THE VERDICT IS IN FOR A MAN CONVICTED OF KILLING 3 TEENAGERS IN THE 1980’S, 2 OF THEM IN MONTEREY COUNTY. THE PENALTY PHASE OF JOSEPH NISSENSOHN’S TRIAL, IS COMPLETE. AFTER DELIBERATING FOR JUST 90 MINUTES, THE JURY RETURNED A VERDICT IN FAVOR OF THE DEATH PENALTY. NISSENSOHN WAS FOUND GUILTY OF THE 1981 CARMEL VALLEY MURDERS OF 13 YEAR-OLD TAMMY JARSCHKE AND 14 YEAR-OLD TANYA JONES.
THEIR BODIES WERE FOUND IN THE CHEW’S RIDGE AREA, AFTER THEY RAN AWAY FROM A SEASIDE FOSTER HOME. THE GIRLS WERE LAST SEEN ALIVE IN THE COMPANY OF NISSENSOHN (AND A FRIEND OF HIS) AT A DENNY’S RESTAURANT IN MONTEREY IN JUNE OF 1981.
