Santa Cruz police have made a positive identification in a 20-year old case referred to as “Pogonip Jane”. The victim, Kori Joanne Lamaster, was found dead in January 1994 in pogonip park, a wooded area between U-C Santa Cruz and the Harvey West area, and up until now, had not been identified. The woman’s ID was confirmed through DNA and fingerprints. Police say the autopsy prints were matched to a fingerprint card taken when the victim was very young. Lamaster traveled from Pacifica to Santa Cruz in late 1993. Police believe she was bludgeoned in the head with a metal pipe before she was partially buried. Lamaster’s killer has not been identified, police are still seeking information in the case.
