A man was arrested following a stand-off in Capitola yesterday. Police responded to a report of a man armed with a rifle on the 400 block of Kennedy Drive just after 4 p.m. Police say 24-year old James Gomez had threatened an encounter with officers for suicide reasons. Area streets were on lock down beginning around 11:30 p.m. last night, with an “all clear” sent out this morning around 3:30. Gomez was taken and admitted to Dominican Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. Capitola Officers and the SWAT Team located and seized two rifles, numerous rounds of ammunition, a tactical military style vest and a kinife in the area where Gomez surrendered. No one was harmed during the stand-off.
