A large Watsonville Homeless Campsite was cleared up this week. Wednesday’s Clean-up effort was conducted by the Santa Cruz County sheriff’s department along with help from Santa Cruz County Jail inmates. Homeless men and women at 5 campsites were alerted 2 weeks ahead of the massive sweep. Queen sized bed frames and mattresses, were hauled away along with piles of trash scattered along Corralitos Creek off Airport and Freedom Boulevards. The area was deemed dangerous and a public health issue. The area is now expected to be monitored on a weekly basis by the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Department.
