Record-low rainfall and no significant rain in the forecast has prompted extended resources and staffing for the Cal Fire Santa Cruz-San Mateo unit. As a result, Cal Fire will continue to staff aircraft, heavy equipment, fire engines and seasonal firefighters to carry on firefighting well past the season. Also, because of dangerous fire conditions, the burn ban that was put into place on April 29th, still remains in effect. No open burning, other than approved campfires, is allowed without special permits.
