Santa Cruz City Officials are expected to consider approving extended water restrictions when they meet today. During the City Council meeting later this afternoon, the Santa Cruz Water Departement is expected to ask Council Members to continue the Stage 1 Shortage Alert that began in May to limit outdoor water use. The request comes after an area water shortage and a bleak rain forecast. Water Department officials say the Loch Lomond Reservoir, the city’s reserve supply, has fallen to 71% of normal since March, and it’s level continues to drop.
