A vehicle ran into a fire hydrant just before noon in downtown Santa Cruz today. The incident took place at Ocean and Water Street, when police say the collision caused the hydrant to erupt into a shooting geyser of water. No injuries were reported. Reports say the water department responded immediately and had the broken hydrant secured by 12:30 p.m.
