Nearly 100 people showed up last night at a public forum to hear about a proposed homeless campsite to be built in Santa Cruz. Several homeless activists are working on community support for the permanent campground, which would house up to 50-homeless people. The proposal includes creating a nonprofit corporation, choosing a location and securing funds either from grants, loans or donations. The plan also calls for a 6-foot tall fence to enclose the site, which would be staffed 24-hours a day.
