THE CITY OF PACIFIC GROVE IS WORKING ON CLEANING IT’S PUBLIC AREAS OF THE WASTE LEFT BEHIND FROM IT’S SEAGULL POPULATION. THE POWER WASHERS BEING USED TO CLEAN UP THE BIRD POOP ON DOWNTOWN SIDEWALKS, IS IN RESPONSE TO COMPLAINTS MADE BY BUSINESS OWNERS, MOSTLY THROUGH SPRING AND SUMMER MONTHS. P-G-MAYOR BILL KAMPE SAYS THE POWER WASHERS ARE A TEMPORARY FIX, AND WANTS THE CITY TO CONSIDER PUTTING UP SIGNS WARNING THE PUBLIC NOT TO FEED THE BIRDS. THE CITY IS ALSO PAYING FOR AWNINGS TO BE CLEANED OFF. CLEAN-UP COSTS RANGE BETWEEN 5-AND-6-THOUSAND DOLLARS.
