POLICE SAY A SCOTTS VALLEY POWER OUTAGE MONDAY WAS CAUSED AFTER A PERSON DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE CRASHED INTO AN ELECTRICAL POLE. 43-YEAR OLD KAREN BAUER WAS DRIVING A 2002 FORD EXCURSION WEST ON LOCKEWOOD LANE AROUND 5:15 P.M., WHEN SHE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND STRUCK THE POWER POLE PRIOR TO SLAMMING INTO A 2003 NISSAN X-TERRA, WHICH WAS STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN NEAR CASETA WAY. THE 17-YEAR OLD DRIVER OF THE X-TERRA WAS HOSPITALIZED WITH MINOR INJURIES, WHILE BAUER WAS AIR LIFTED TO AN AREA TRAUMA CENTER, WHERE SHE WAS LATER RELEASED AND ARRESTED ON SUSPICION OF DUI. OVER 320 P-G-AND-E CUSTOMERS WERE AFFECTED, THE POWER WAS RESTORED EARLY YESTERDAY MORNING.
