A REQUEST BY A CENTRAL COAST BEACH RESTAURANT TO STAY OPEN LATER HAS BEEN DENIED. SANTA CRUZ CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS VOTED YESTERDAY AGAINST SOUTH BEACH PIZZA COMPANY TO EXTEND IT’S OPERATING TIME AN HOUR PAST WHAT IT’S CURRENT PERMIT ALLOWS. OFFICIALS SAY THAT INCREASED OPERATING HOURS, FOR OUTLETS THAT OFFER ALCOHOL, WILL OVERTAX THE POLICE DEPARTMENT. THE RESTAURANT IS LOCATED BETWEEN THE SANTA CRUZ BOARDWALK AND THE SANTA CRUZ HARBOR AND IS OPEN UNTIL MIDNIGHT.
