A ROBBERY AND CARJACKING TOOK PLACE ON SATURDAY NIGHT AT ABOUT 9:15 P-M, IN SALINAS. THE VICTIM, WHILE PARKED AT NATIVIDAD CREEK PARK, WAS ROBBED OF CASH AND PERSONAL PROPERTY, AS WELL AS THE VEHICLE, SUNDAY AFTERNOON, OFFICERS SPOTTED THE CAR ON KIMMEL STREET NEAR BEECH STREET. TWO SUBJECTS EXITED THE CAR, ONE HOLDING A SEMI-AUTOMATIC HANDGUN. HE ALLEGEDLY FIRED AT THE OFFICERS, BUT HIT HIS ACCOMPLICE, INSTEAD. THEY BOTH RAN FROM THE SCENE, LEAVING THE THIRD SUSPECT, A 17 YEAR OLD BOY, IN THE BACK OF THE CAR. THE BOY WAS ARRESTED AND LATER BOOKED INTO MONTEREY COUNTY JUVENILE HALL. THE SECOND SUSPECT, 18 YEAR OLD JUAN BOYZO, RETURNED TO THE SCENE, AND WAS APPREHENDED BY A POLICE K-9, HE WAS AIRLIFTED TO A TRAUMA CENTER FOR THE TREATMENT OF HIS GUNSHOT WOUND. HE IS ON POLICE HOLD AND WILL BE BOOKED INTO MONTEREY COUNTY JAIL. THE FIRST SUSPECT, BELIEVED TO BE THE SHOOTER, IS STILL AT LARGE AS OF SUNDAY AFTERNOON.
