THE MONTEREY CITY COUNCIL HAS PASSED A 105 MILLION DOLLAR BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR THAT BEGINS JULY 1ST . IT IS COMPRISED OF 63 MILLION DOLLARS IN THE GENERAL FUND, AND THE BALANCE IN RESTRICTED SPECIAL FUNDS. THE COUNCIL ALSO UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED FUNDING FOR FISHERMAN’S WHARF, THE Y-W-C-A, UNITED WAY, AND FIRST NIGHT MONTEREY. THE COUNCIL ALSO VOTED TO ADD SUNDAY HOURS AT THE MONTEREY PUBLIC LIBRARY. 40 THOUSAND DOLLARS WAS SET ASIDE TO FUND A YET-TO-BE DETERMINED PROGRAM THAT WORKS WITH HOMELESS PEOPLE.
