A TENTATIVE AGREEMENT REACHED TUESDAY WITH THE CITY OF WATSONVILLE KEPT SOME FIREFIGHTERS FROM LOSING THEIR JOB AND SPARED POLICE FROM TAKING MORE FURLOUGH DAYS. THE AGREEMENT STATES THAT THE POLICE DEPARTMENT WILL CONTINUE TO HAVE EIGHT FURLOUGH DAYS AND A DEFERRED FIVE PERCENT SALARY INCREASE. IN ADDITION THE POLICE ACTIVITIES PROGRAM WILL BE FUNDED THROUGH NEXT YEAR, AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AGREED TO KEEP ON SUSPENDING ITS UNIFORM ALLOWANCE.
