A LAWSUIT, FILED RECENTLY BY THE FAMILY OF A CANADIAN WOMAN, BLAMES LAST SUMMER’S DEATH OF 84 YEAR-OLD GAIL BERNACKI ON TAINTED LETTUCE, THAT CAME FROM A SALINAS-BASED ORGANIZATION. THE SUIT CLAIMS THAT BERNACKI CONTRACTED COLITITIS FROM E-COLI-TAINTED LETTUCE FROM TANIMURA AND ANTLE (THAT SHE ATE LAST AUGUST). THE CANADIAN FOOD INSPECTION AGENCY HAD ISSUED A HEALTH HAZARD ALERT TO CITIZENS BEFORE BERNACKI DIED.
