A San Benito County man accused of molesting a 5-year-old girl in February of last year failed to appear for a doctor’s evaluation as part of his plea deal. 52-year-old Arnaldo Mateo Hernandez accepted what is known as the “West plea” which does not constitute an express admission of guilt but only consent to be punished as if guilty.
The psychological evaluation was meant to help determine the length of Hernandez sentence, based on his risk as an offender. Hernandez is now a fugitive on the felony charges of lewd and lascivious acts with a child.
