CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL WILL OBSERVE NATIONAL CHILD PASSENGER SAFETY WEEK SEPTEMBER 16th THROUGH THE 22nd, STARTING WITH CONDUCTING CHILD SAFETY SEAT EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE STATE. HUNDREDS OF CHILDREN ARE KILLED EVERY YEAR IN CALIFORNIA AS A RESULT OF SAFETY SEATS THAT ARE IMPROPERLY FASTENED BY PARENTS OR CARETAKERS. California’s new child passenger safety seat law, which went into effect January 1ST, requires THAT children ride in the back seat of a vehicle, in either a car seat or booster seat, until the age of eight, or until they are 4 feet 9 inches in height. Parents are invited to call their local CHP Area office to make an appointment with a child safety seat technician for a free car seat inspection.
